The Bluemont Connection is all about that gravel life. This ride will feature some of the best gravel roads in the area, and is likely to be about 80% gravel with very little car traffic. It'll go up, down, twist and turn. Our guides will lead the way so you can take in the sights and test your legs without the worry of getting lost. All you need to bring is a gravel-ready ride and a change of clothes for the post-ride gathering and meal time!

When: Sunday, May 7, 2017, 8:30 a.m. - (about) 4 p.m.

Distance: 40 miles

Climbing:  2600 feet of elevation

Terrain: About 75% Gravel!

Pace: 12-16 mph

Difficulty Rating: 4 of 5, Moderate. (Read our ride difficulty rating guide for more on this) 

The day at a glance: We'll meet you at 8:30 a.m. just off Dupont Circle in NW DC. We load up our big blue wagon with bikes and peeps and leave the city for the ride's starting point. After the ride, we'll load the wagon and head to a private horse farm nearby, where our meal awaits. We'll re-fuel, relax, say hi to the horses, play with the friendly barn pets, take a dip in the pool, and hop back in the wagon for the return to DC around 5:30 p.m.

IS THIS RIDE FOR ME?

This ride is for you if:

  • You ride very frequently and about 75-100 miles per week.
  • You've recently completed at least a 50 mile ride before on a road bike. 
  • You've got a road bike with 25mm tires, a CX or gravel bike and you feel comfortable on rural dirt and gravel.

Every ride's menu is a little different, based on season, local availability, and what’s inspiring us right now. All of our meals are friendly to vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-sensitive riders—we'll be following up with you individually regarding any food allergies or restrictions.
